Stanton College Preparatory School is widely considered to be the #1 best high school in the United States. It is a magnet school that emphasizes STEM subjects, problem solving, critical research and research, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility. The curriculum is designed to challenge students and prepare them for college-level courses. All courses are taught at honors, gifted, AP, and post-AP levels.

Students must participate in AP classes, and the school has a 100% pass rate for advanced-level exams. In addition to rigorous academics, Stanton College Preparatory School offers more than 150 clubs and activities for students to participate in. This allows students to explore their interests and develop their skills outside of the classroom. The school is also one of the founding members of the National Consortium of Mathematics, Science and Technology Specialized Secondary Schools.

This magnet school emphasizes cultural understanding and responsible citizenship. The school offers honors, AP and IB classes. Ninety-nine percent of students participate in the IB program, with a 100% completion rate. International Academy requires each participant to complete 150 hours of community service or extracurricular activities to graduate.

Some of the extracurricular clubs available include chess, dance, film and robotics. International Academy selects students for admission through a lottery. Bergen County Academies is another top high school in the United States. It offers extensive extracurricular activities and has a notable faculty, many of whom have doctorates in their respective fields. Although it offers 16 AP classes, the school does not focus on them.

Enrollees participate in courses that often surpass AP courses in technical rigor and creativity. Students can also take dual-enrollment classes for college credit. Admission to Bergen County Academies remains highly competitive, as the school generally accepts about 270 of the 1,600+ applicants each year through a process that includes letters of recommendation, testing, and interviews. The school has an acceptance rate of 16%. The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology has a 100% AP participation rate and a 96% pass rate for AP exams. Some of the offerings include chemistry, physics, engineering and language arts.

Some enrollees may qualify for dual enrollment programs for early college credit. The school has many student clubs, including architecture, debate and robotics. Seventy percent of its students enroll in college within 12 months of their graduation. Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School is another top high school in the United States. Economically disadvantaged students make up 36% of its student body.

Students can choose from more than two dozen AP classes, and 91% of their enrollees participate in advanced placement courses. The high school also offers several post-AP courses, such as multivariable calculus, genetics, and organic chemistry. Qualified candidates can also participate in dual enrollment courses. Beyond traditional courses, high school requires each participant to complete 50 hours of community service. After receiving their diplomas, 89% of students enroll in a two- or four-year university within 16 months.

Economically disadvantaged students represent 21% of the Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School student body. According to the International Student Assessment Program, the United States ranks 13th in reading and 36th in mathematics. The specialized high school also finished seventh in the state and 63rd in the top 100 schools in the country.
